In April French troops captured Ivory Coast strongman Laurent Gbagbo and handed him over to the rebels. Hundreds of Christians were reportedly slaughtered in April outside the Salesian Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus mission in Duékoué, Ivory Coast. Since that time, Muslim forces loyal to Obama-backed President Alassane Ouattara have continued to commit atrocities against Gbagbo supporters. This week two Christian brothers were crucified. The Barnabus Fund reported, via Jihad Watch : Two peasant brothers were brutally crucified on “the example of Christ” as forces loyal to Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara continue to target perceived supporters of his ousted Christian predecessor, Raphael Aka Kouame died of his injuries; incredibly his younger brother, Kouassi Privat Kacou, survived the ordeal. The pair were badly beaten and tortured before being crudely nailed to cross-shaped planks by their hands and feet with steel spikes on 29 May. The brothers were falsely accused of hiding weapons in their home village of Binkro, which has been targeted by Ouattara supporters as the birthplace of a key enemy. They are looking for Prefect Koko Djei, President of the General Council of Oumé and an official in Gbagbo’s Ivorian Popular Front party, who is accused of distributing weapons to young Oumé men. The brothers repeatedly denied any involvement in a weapons cache, but their pleas were ignored. After crucifying the brothers, Ouattara’s men took them on an extensive search of Binkro, but they found only a store of medical equipment and supplies, which they looted. The seriously wounded pair were then taken to prison in Oumé, where Raphael died in the night. This is just one of the many atrocities that have been committed as fighting between Ouattara and Gbagbo supporters has continued in the wake of the disputed presidential election last November. Christians have been caught up in the conflict as perceived supporters of Gbagbo. Support for the two men is split broadly along geographical and religious lines, with the predominantly Muslim north largely backing Ouattara, a Muslim from that region, while support for Gbagbo, a Christian, comes from the mainly Christian south.

Aw. He’s the last remaining member of the rock-star economics team that’s brought us so much joy these past two years. And soon, it sounds like, he’ll be gone too. Now the only member left is the frontman. And he’s a — well, you know. It’s like finding out that the three lesser guys in Coldplay Read this post

First they came for the AT&T, and I didn’t speak out because I didn’t like AT&T. Then they came for Microsoft, and I didn’t speak out because I was a Mac guy. Then they came for the internet service providers, and I didn’t speak out because my employer put a T1 in my house. Then they came for Twitter , and who the hell thinks that’s a good idea???

“I’m not running away from something; I’m running to something.” In classic professorial fashion, before the blackboards that have become a trademark of his show, Glenn Beck tonight spoke simply and convincingly, as he recapped the lessons he has learned and taught as the host of his own TV show for the past five years (only the last two and a half of which were Read this post
From Breitbart.tv : This video shows only the questions asked by CNN American Morning anchor Kiran Chetry. No questions about unemployment, the budget, the economy, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, the deficit, Medicare, health care, terrorism, Iran, Syria, Israel, Greece or gas prices. A very bizarre, albeit polite, interview over a throughly debunked topic. Why isn’t Chetry asking about any of Obama’s gaffes ? Or the lengthy list of outright inaccuracies in his last press conference? Did Chetry even get around to asking Bachmann about her thoughts on entitlement reform or, since Bachmann is a tax attorney, ask her thoughts on the Democrats’ refusal to walk back the tax burden on job creators? That would have put an uncomfortable spotlight on the contradictions in this administration and ultimately make it look bad as we roll into an election year. However, I don’t think that was Chetry’s aim.

There's just one potentate left to cross off in what I like to think of as the Obama Brain Trust Advent Calendar: Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has all but said it's over . On the one hand, “considering leaving the administration after President Barack Obama reaches an agreement with Congress to raise the national debt limit” sounds pretty much like I quit . On the other, “after President Barack Obama reaches an agreement with Congress to raise the national debt limit” sounds a lot like once the Arab-Israeli conflict is over . Don't keep us waiting Geithner, you tease. Give in to the shame! Feel the ignominy coursing through your veins. Accept your destiny. Quit, in the full blaze of your failure, quit. This, of course, is presuming the three loose-lipped “people familiar with the matter” Bloomberg's Hans Nichols refers to are correctly informed, and Geithner has not already been fired. Long weekend coming up. Should I give him the X now? Vote in the comments. Update : Was it all just a beautiful dream or a sweeps-week ratings stunt for Bill Clinton's Global Initiative? Geithner tells the former Prez , “I live for this work. It’s the only thing I’ve ever done. I believe in it. We have a lot of challenges as a country. I’m going to be doing it for the foreseeable future.” [Note that no part of the future is foreseeable.]

Sensitivities. What choice did he have? If they let this slide, who knows how many “Obama’s a dick” jokes would be filling the airwaves at, um, the most famously liberal cable network in America?
