Biden: You know, in a way, Obama’s faced tougher decisions than FDR did

Posted by on Saturday, 31 March, 2012

“I’ve watched him make decisions that would make another man or woman’s hair curl.” I like to think of him as the Brick Tamland of the Obama administration. Not a bad guy. Just … “special.” “I’ve watched him make decisions that would make another man or woman’s hair curl,” Biden told the crowd of 150 inside the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee, according to a pool reporter on scene… Read this post

Karen Finney and MSNBC Slander Conservatives with Martin Killing

Posted by on Sunday, 25 March, 2012

Former DNC spokesperson Karen Finney has been leading the effort at MSNBC to turn the Trayvon Martin shooting into a political story implicating conservatives. It began with her smear of Rush Limbaugh and GOP presidential candidates while filling in as host of the Martin Bashir show : So, when Newt Gingrich, presidential candidate Newt Gingrich says that, quote, “really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and have nobody around them who works. They have no habit of I do this and you give me cash, unless it’s illegal,” or Rick Santorum says, “I don’t want to make black people’s lives easier,” or Rush Limbaugh calls a presidential candidate, Senator Barack Obama a magic negro, or Mitt Romney says nothing at all, the effect is dangerous because they reinforce and validate old stereotypes that associate the poor and welfare as criminal behavior with African-Americans and people of color, calling us lazy, undeserving recipients of public assistance. In the case of Trayvon, those festering stereotypes had lethal consequences. There are numerous problems with Finney’s litany of complaints against the right. Newt Gingrich never singled out a particular race in his comments, rather he was focused on a class, “really poor children” a class that could involve children of any race.

Former Google employees want to stop their old boss from being quite so creepy: In an effort to help users protect their privacy, two former Google employees have created a company with the aim of stopping Google and other sites from tracking users. Read on for more. “Advertisers and other third parties track, clutter, and slow down your web browsing,” Disconnect.me explains on its website . “Disconnect makes the web your business not theirs.” The company offers a simple plug-in for Google’s Chrome browser that allows users to stop sites like Google, Yahoo, Twitter and Facebook from tracking web browsing. According to TechCrunch, the Disconnect.me now attracts more than 400,000 weekly users. The company is just a few months old but it just raised $600,000 in funding from Highland Capital and other firms, and it aims to expand its service to block more websites from tracking users. I’ve been using Do Not Track Plus for Safari and Chrome, and have been quite happy with it. Will give this new one a try, too.

The Post in Which I Agree With Osama bin Laden

Posted by on Friday, 16 March, 2012

If broken clocks get the time right twice a day, why not evil broken clocks ? Before his death, Osama bin Laden boldly commanded his network to organize special cells in Afghanistan and Pakistan to attack the aircraft of President Barack Obama and Gen. David Petraeus. “The reason for concentrating on them,” the al-Qaeda leader explained to his top lieutenant, “is that Obama is the head of infidelity and killing him automatically will make (Vice President Joe) Biden take over the presidency . … Biden is totally unprepared for that post , which will lead the U.S. into a crisis. As for Petraeus, he is the man of the hour … and killing him would alter the war’s path” in Afghanistan. UPDATE: Oh, snap! I totally didn’t mean to imply that I agreed w/ bin Laden that Obama should be killed. Hell no . I meant, I agree with him that Biden is not now nor will he ever be ready for prime time as President. I’ve updated the post to reflect that more accurately. Sorry about that.

TSA: You’ve Been Punk’d

Posted by on Thursday, 8 March, 2012

A billion dollars for naked scanners, and what do you get ? This: According to Corbett, who was the first person to sue the TSA when it introduced the scanners in early 2010, people can bypass the devices by simply fixing items they want to hide to their sides. The scanners bounce electromagnetic waves off of a subject to create an image that shows metallic items in black against the human body, which appears in bright white on the TSA’s equipment. The background of the scans is also black, however, so objects held in clothing on a person’s side will not appear over the dark background in the TSA’s scans. Further down, the BGR story reports Corbett saying that Rafi Sela, who ran security for Ben Gurion airport in Israel, which is known for being one of the most secure airports in the world, was quoted saying he could ‘overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to take down a Boeing 747,’ and Ben Gurion therefore refused to buy scanners. Finally, here’s Corbett’s video. The TSA denies everything, of course. Click here to view the embedded video.
